Thousands of Freddie Mercury's personal items were auctioned off on Wednesday night, drawing outrage from some fans and Brian May. The Freddie Mercury's Yamaha baby grand piano sold for $2.2 million.
The initial price tag was a whopping $60,000 (40,000 pounds). Six bidding paddles were raised in the London salesroom, and a frenzy of bids ensued online and over the phone. The piano was on the auction block for six minutes when it was sold for $2.2 million to an anonymous internet bidder, the same amount of time as Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody."
